ESTHER Board Adopts Statement of Witness

This is a time that tries our souls

This Is a Time that Tries Our Souls….

In the light of concerns about the climate of religious and racial prejudice and harrassment growing out of the Presidential election, the ESTHER Leadershp Board has decided to adopt and publicize a statement of witness focusing on community, justice, and hope.

The statement lifts up ESTHER’s hallmark values of inclusiveness, neighborliness, compassion, fair treatment, commitment to community, and the practice of hope. ESTHER intends to publish the statement in an ad to be placed in the Appleton Post-Crescent on December 4.

Titled “This Is a Time that Tries Our Souls,” the statement received sustained applause when it was presented at the ESTHER banquet on November 13. Not only that, almost all the attendees co-signed the statement (175 people so far) and together contributed over $330 towards the $650 cost of running the ad. We would love to have many more signers and to raise enough in contributions to cover the publication costs completely.
