Race to Justice - Northeast Wisconsin

Date:
Saturday, April 28, 2018 - 11:00am - 3:00pm
Location:
West Side Moravian Church, 1707 S Oneida St, Green Bay

ROC Wisconsin LogoThis event is part of the Race to Justice campaign, a series of local training and organizing gatherings being held this spring in locations around the state, with a focus on justice system reform in Wisconsin as an issue in the 2018 gubernatorial and state legislative races.

You are invited if you are a current ROC (Restore Our Communities) Wisconsin leader, ally, friend, or simply want to get involved. We will get clear about some of the many issues; we’ll practice telling our stories and hearing the stories of the people who have been most affected; we’ll get ourselves organized; and we’ll make plans for the next six months.

There is no charge for the the event. A light lunch will be available for a small donation.

Car pooling is being organized from the Appleton area. Those interested should meet in the parking lot at the east-side Target Store (1800 S Kensington Dr, Appleton, WI 54915-4136) at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 28.

Issues to be covered in the training include:

  • Crimeless revocations
  • Treatment instead of prison
  • Solitary confinement
  • Old-law inmates
  • Parole
  • Decriminalization of marijuana

After these trainings around the state, we will be doing outreach. We will have candidate forums for people running for Governor and for the state legislature. We will make presentations and we’ll go door-to door. And, we will join efforts to get everyone in Wisconsin to vote this fall.
