This recent ESTHER blog post describes the epidemic of Murdered & Missing Indigenous Women, Girls and 2-Spirits in this region and shares background on ESTHER’s efforts to be in solidarity with indigenous peoples on this issue and others.

MMIW2GS Rally Live-Stream Video Available

Waking Women Healing Institute, Inc. and ESTHER held an important event in Houdini Plaza in Appleton on February 14, bringing awareness to Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women Girls and 2-Spirits (MMIWG2S). We heard from family members and leaders who are working to create change and healing.

Lights of Hope: 4th Annual WI Recovery, Celebration, and Memorial Walk

September 11, 2022: LIGHTS OF HOPE

The 4th Annual WI Recovery Celebration and Memorial Walk
Raise Awareness about Addiction, Celebrate Recovery and Help Those Impacted by Loss

City Park, 500 E. Franklin St, Appleton, WI.
Walk starting at 4:00pm.
$18 for adults and $10 for children under age 17. 

Local and National Speakers, Silent Auction, Recovery Resource Tables, Narcan Training
Subs and Water will be proved after the event
The fee includes a t-shirt, memorial sign and water.

Community Living Room for support in the loss of Jill Smith

Wisconsin Lights of Hope

6th Annual Wisconsin Lights of Hope - A Recovery Celebration & Memorial Walk

Time

  • 3:30pm: Registration, check-in and t-shirt pick up

  • 4:00pm: Walk begins

  • 5:00pm: Speakers and food

Description:

The walk route goes around and through Pierce Park. Memorial signs will be displayed along the route for all to see and reflect upon memories of loved ones. Post walk, meet at the pavilion to see the 2024 Wisconsin Memorial Quilts.

 

Join the free Fox Cities Lights of Hope event to listen to speakers and participate in a candlelight vigil as we celebrate recovery and remember our loved ones and those still struggling. 

Fee*:

Adults: $20

Children 17 & Under: $12

Fee includes t-shirt, food/drinks, Memorial Sign**

*If you do not have the ability to pay or are not interested in a t-shirt or memorial sign, we encourage you to join us anyway at the Lights of Hope at 5:15pm for no charge.

**The deadline to ensure a t-shirt and memorial sign is August 22nd
