Immerse yourself into the lives of two undocmented parents as they raise their young daughter, Anita, and face struggles much too familiar to the community. (virtual reality)
The VR experience runs about 9 minutes and will be available for viewing between 3pm-4:15pm and again between 7pm-8pm.

Follow the lives of three DACA students in Georgia as they take on activism in a state that has banned them from attending their top state universities and disqualifies them from receiving in-state tuition at any other public college. (documentary film)
Screening will begin at 4:30 with a discussion afterward.

A Presentation by Mark Charles
Building A Nation Where
“We the People” Truly Means “All the People”
Mark Charles is a speaker, writer and consultant. The son of an American woman of Dutch heritage and a Navajo man, Charles seeks to understand the complexities of American History regarding race, culture and faith in order to help forge a path of healing and reconciliation for the nation.
Charles is noted for his activism in denouncing the Doctrine of Discovery and opposing the Dakota pipeline. In May of 2019 Charles announced that he is running for President of the United States as an independent in the 2020 election.*
In addition to this event, Mark will be preaching at First Congregational UCC of Appleton on October 20 at the 8:45 and 10:30 am services.

The Appleton Boychoir presents a powerful and moving musical tribute to freedom in this unique Black History Month Concert. Featuring the music of South Africa, the boys will perform works by Rudolf de Beer, Anders Nyberg, and John Williams. The concert documents the story of the San people of the Western Cape Region, who first welcomed the Dutch and English sailors to their shoes. The musical journey begins with the arrival of these ships from over the horizon, and continues to La Amistad and the quest for freedom of the Mende.… Dry Your Tears Afrika!

The African Heritage Emerging Student Leaders Institute (AHESLI) was created in 2015 by Dr. Bola Delano-Oriaran as a response to the needs of Black/African American students in Northeast Wisconsin. It is a leadership opportunity for Black high school, college students, and K-12 school staff. AHESLI promotes higher education, career exploration, and job opportunities for students.
