Keynote speaker: Keith Findlay, professor emeritus, UW Law School, and Co-founder, The Innocence Project

Keith Findley holds a Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and a Juris Doctor from Yale Law School. He had been a faculty member at the University of Wisconsin Law School for most of his career, teaching courses like Evidence, Wrongful Convictions, Criminal Procedure, and Law & Forensic Science. In 1998, he co-founded the Wisconsin Innocence Project and served as its co-director until 2017. He was also the president of the Innocence Network for five years. In 2018, he co-founded the Center for Integrity in Forensic Sciences to enhance the reliability of criminal prosecutions.

Findley has authored over 50 law review articles and book chapters, focusing on wrongful convictions, criminal law, forensic science, and appellate advocacy. He has extensive experience as an Assistant State Public Defender, handling numerous post-conviction and appellate cases at all court levels, including the U.S. Supreme Court. Additionally, he lectures internationally on topics related to wrongful convictions, forensic science, evidence, and appellate advocacy.

In recent years, Findley has been heavily involved in policing issues, chairing committees and commissions related to police policy, civilian oversight, and the feasibility of body-worn cameras in Madison, Wisconsin. He was appointed to serve on the Madison Police Civilian Oversight Board in 2020.
