Salsa Migration – Data Prep Guidelines

Please observe the following guidelines when prepping data for import into Salsa

  1. Within an affiliate's data, ensure that there is only one uploaded record per person -- no duplicates. (Duplicates that may exist across affiliates - e.g., WISDOM staff - will be resolved at a later stage.)
  2. Number each row in your spreadsheet as follows:

Put the number 1 in the first row, and number each following row with 2, 3, 4, etc., in sequence. This number will uniquely identify each of your contacts, in case you want to add additional information about them later. (If you are preparing more than one spreadsheet to upload, make sure the sequence numbers in each spreadsheet do not overlap – different people must have different numbers. Using the same number for two different people will result in the loss of data for one of them.)

  3. For people who have a name suffix (Jr, Sr, Esq, MD, SSND, etc.), place this info in the suffix column, not in the last name column. Do not include the trailing period that marks an abbreviation - so use 'Jr', not 'Jr.'
