Black History Month 2019 Events

Dignity & Respect AppletonWe’re pleased to share the following list of Black History Month events in the Fox Cities. We’re grateful to Karen Nelson, Diversity and Inclusion Director of the City of Appleton, for this information.

Tuesday, February 5th - 6pm – The City of Appleton is partnering with Kimberly Clark’s African-American Employee Network for their Speaker Series: Conversation with Kenyatta Berry on Genealogy to be held at Lawrence University’s Warch Campus Cinema. See the attached flyer for more details.

Wednesday, February 6th – 7pm – The City of Appleton is partnering with The Wisconsin Herd and African Heritage, Inc., to showcase the traveling exhibit, “A Stone of Hope, Black Experiences in the Fox Cities” on loan from the History Museum at the Castle in Appleton. Sunday, February 10th – 12noon – The City of Appleton is partnering with The Building for Kids as they host the fourth annual Diversity Discovery Free Day at The Building for Kids Children’s Museum. At this annual event, a wide range of local non-profits and community groups are invited to facilitate educational activities inside the exhibits and program areas of the museum. These activities seek to increase awareness and understanding of a specific aspect of diversity (ethnicity, nationality, belief, ability, or family structure). Sunday, February 10th – 3pm – The City of Appleton is partnering with Appleton Area School District as they host their 1st Black History Month Program at Appleton West High School. Come out for an afternoon of culture and food for the soul, sponsored by Thrivent Financial.
