Protesters in Wisconsin have announced a “Freedom Rally,” to be held on April 24 in Madison after Gov. Tony Evers on April 16 extended the state’s stay-at-home order until May 26. The announcement comes as scores of protesters have taken to streets in other state capitals, railing against governors’ shutdown policies that they argue harm the economy and limit Americans’ constitutional rights. President Trump, in a series of tweets, has encouraged some Democratic governors to “LIBERATE” their lockdown-stricken states.
If you disagree with these protests and agree that this extension is important for our health and safety, even though it extends the hardship of those no longer working or without income for other reasons, please consider emailing your legislators with a message like the following:
Dear Legislator,
I HOPE you are not supporting the April 24 protest against Governor Evers' extension of the safer-at-home order. I HOPE you will support him, as his decision is the best possible one to keep us all safe. I HOPE you will encourage your constituents to STAY HOME and NOT PARTICIPATE in the protest. And PLEASE do all you can to support people who have lost their jobs by providing funding for them.
