Come hear Circuit Court Judge John Des Jardins and Criminal Justice Treatment Services Director Bernie Vetrone explain Outagamie County’s Smart on Crime Initiative, one of only 25 such projects in the nation.

The county is partnering with the National Institute of Corrections in a project to adapt its criminal-justice system to an evidence-based decision-making framework. Research shows that implementing evidence-based decision-making can reduce recidivism up to 30 percent and provide a total economic benefit of $10,000 per offender.
