More About This Event

ESTHER and First Congregational United Church of Christ in Appleton are hosting a multi-denominational and nonpartisan advocacy workshop presented by the Wisconsin Interfaith Voter Engagement Campaign (WIVEC).

“The right to vote is almost sacred. It is the most powerful nonviolent tool we have in a democracy.” —Rep. John Lewis

Join us as we introduce participants to the opportunities and challenges for congregational engagement in advocacy, explore the many forms advocacy can take, and learn how we can build skills in linking voter engagement to advocacy.

Wisconsin Council of Churches (WCC) and Wisconsin Faith Voices for Justice (WFVJ) partner to engage the interfaith community in the democratic process. WIVEC is the result of a partnership among active faith communities. Their mission is to build increased understanding and stronger ties among different faith communities and increase involvement in the electoral process.

This non-partisan advocacy workshop will promote a greater understanding of how faith communities and individuals can build confidence in becoming effective advocates. Remember, democracy doesn’t end at the ballot box.
